Testimonials
Testimonials for Alan from clients, both past and present:
I can't recommend training with Alan enough! I struggled with knee pain for years and wasn't able to run any further than 10k without getting a sore knee. But, after training with Alan once a week, I recently completed my first triathlon and I am now signed up to run a marathon and my knees are completely pain free! - Marie Borgesson
I've been attending Alan's kettlebell class for a few years now. Prior to signing up I hadn't really done any regular exercise for a number of years and needed to get organised with some regular structured exercise. I knew nothing about kettlebells before joining but just happened to see a flyer and thought, 'Looks interesting - I'll give it a go'. I'm really pleased I did! The lessons are always interesting, there are so many different ways of using the kettlebell so boredom is never a problem. The sessions have certainly helped develop my general fitness, core stability and strength. - John Rawle
Alan’s Pilates classes are fantastic - he constantly challenges and pushes but takes great care with the positions so there’s no damage done. He’s really friendly and brings a great sense of humour to the class, which makes them fun. I learnt so many great moves from Alan’s classes and my bad back has improved an amazing amount since doing Pilates with Alan. - Samantha P
Ten years ago, I embarked on a transformative fitness journey with Alan, starting with his beginners kettlebell class in Cambridge. From that moment on, I dedicated myself to each term, guided by Alan's expertise and unwavering support. What began as a struggle with weight and fatigue evolved into a remarkable transformation: today, I proudly identify myself as an endurance runner, with kettlebells serving as the cornerstone of my strength routine. Alan's influence extends far beyond the kettlebells class. He reignited my passion for running, starting with Couch to 5K six years ago, and now I proudly embrace the title of ultra runner, all thanks to Alan's dedication and inspiration. As an elite endurance runner himself, Alan's guidance is unparalleled. His training methods and encouragement have shaped not just my physique, but my entire outlook on fitness and well-being. I owe my current level of fitness to Alan, and I am endlessly grateful for the impact he's had on my life. - David Ousby
I've taken both classes in person and online with Alan and it really helped me progress in my training, particularly with correcting issues with my form that I had accumulated by toying around with kettlebells on my own. His carefully crafted training programs make you use your entire body and discover new abilities you had not suspected! His live online sessions are excellent. Highly recommended to anyone wishing to improve their fitness, wherever it currently stands. - Jérémie Guignard
I’ve been doing kettlebell classes with Alan for several years now. His classes really helped me improve my overall strength, flexibility and muscle tone. Alan is always perfectly prepared and keeps his classes varied and fun! His instructions are clear and easy to follow. I highly recommend Alan’s classes to beginners as well as advanced levels of students! - Rosa Wunner
I couldn't speak more highly of Alan and what a difference he has made for me. I first met Alan when he helped me prepare for my first ultra through personal training and writing me a running programme. I've now achieved some things in running I'm very proud of and virtually without injury, and I credit so much of it to Alan - how to build the miles, the many benefits of kettlebell classes, lots of moral support and much, much more. - Sarah Evershed
Alan is an excellent Kettlebell instructor, thoughtful & well-planned sessions which challenge and improve you. All delivered in a friendly encouraging manner. - Paul Mitton
Alan’s kettlebell classes have helped me in all sorts of ways. It's sorted out my upper back pain by giving me the core strength and posture to combat long hours spent at the computer, and it's also really improved my cross country skiing. - Luke Desborough
I started classes with Alan in September 2014. I had been blighted with back pain from a car accident in February that had knocked me out of taking up my London Marathon place. By September I was still only able to run short distances before seizing up and the discomfort was affecting my daily activities and sleep. Without a doubt, kettlebell classes have helped me to build lower back strength and enabled me to pick up the endurance running again so that I could complete the 2015 London Marathon. The classes themselves are very eclectic with attendees of all ages, shapes and sizes. Everyone laughs and groans in equal measure in a welcoming non-judgemental atmosphere. Best of all the classes are held outside which is a wonderful release - whatever the weather - from the confines of a work day in the office. Highly recommended. - Julia De Cesare
Since starting my training with Alan a year ago I have seen a huge improvement in both my strength and fitness. I started training using an 8kg kettlebell and I am now using a 14kg kettlebell. The sessions are always really varied and enjoyable. I have seen better results after training with Alan for a year than I have in the past five years of regular running, cycling and using the gym. I would definitely recommend traning with Alan as a great way to improve fitness and strength, and achieve great results. - Rebecca Colman
I don't think you could get a better all-round workout in one hour than Alan’s kettlebell classes. I initially started the classes to help improve my running and become overall a bit stronger. One really great thing is that no two classes are ever the same. Having the classes in small groups is motivating and you are surrounded by people who share your pain, especially when there is an end of term "challenge" in store! If you're like me and never thought that swinging a 10kg weight around could be fun, then let Alan prove you wrong! - Viona Rundell
