Welcome to Alan Middlebrook Personal Training

I have over 15 years of experience working as a personal trainer. I am a keen runner, cyclists and hill walker, and I have also dabbled in rowing and kayaking. I started out as a personal trainer in Cambridge, but moved to Knaresborough in North Yorkshire in 2023 as the lure of the Dales and the Moors was just too great.

I have a passion for helping people achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be. Over the years I have helped numerous people achieve success in a range of activities, from running their first marathon at 50, achieving the fitness standard to join the military, and competing in a cross country skiing race. One of my proudest moments was helping a grandmother increase her strength so she could hold her latest grandchild. Whatever your goal, I will be 100% committed to helping you do your absolute best.

Kettlebell training forms the basis of a lot of what I do. I truly believe that kettlebells are the most versatile piece of fitness equipment going, and kettlebell training is a great way to supplement any sport, from running to rowing, and racket sports to martial arts.

I have trained with the Prague School of Physiotherapy in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, which provides functional tools to assess and activate optimal core stability for enhancing performance and reducing injuries.

I am also a Franklin Method educator. I became a level III educator in January 2021, the highest Franklin Method qualification that exists. The Franklin Method uses imagery and biomechanical education to enhance human movement and optimise function. It can be a great tool for improving performance and reducing injury risk.

As of 2023 I qualified as a Polestar Pilates teacher. The Polestar Pilates curriculum has earned the reputation worldwide as the most scientifically sound Pilates curriculum, setting the standard in Pilates education.
